Yes, Idaho is somewhere in the middle of the country, and not a short drive from where most of you are coming. We also know that Idaho doesn’t have a major airline hub, such as Chicago or Orlando or Fiji. Yes, Idaho is far away, which makes it good.
Island Park is also on the western slope of the Continental Divide. This means two things. First, it is in the west, which is good. Second, it is not easy to walk to. Therefore, we’d like to offer some assistance in getting to Idaho, Idaho Falls, and specifically Island Park.

It is usually significantly cheaper to fly into Salt Lake City, which is a three hour drive from Idaho Falls. Of all the fancy ways we’ve explored to purchase aeroplane tickets, which has been a lot in the last few years, we highly recommend that you try www.mobissimo.com.
If you do arrive in Salt Lake City, there are shuttle vans to Idaho Falls (http://www.slashvan.com) for approximately $30.
If there is significant interest, we could arrange to have a van take people from Idaho Falls to the ranch on Friday afternoon, though you will have to let us know of your travel plans in advance. We also encourage folks to car pool. So if you let us know your itinerary, we can assist in making arrangements for rides.
Driving from Idaho Falls to the ranch is pretty easy. Highway 20 cuts through town, so you'll take that north for about 80 miles, towards Rigby / West Yellowstone. When you enter the Island Park area, look out for the gas station on the right side of the road - that's the turn-off for Yale-Kilgore Road. Turn left, drive 3.8 miles, then veer left onto Old Kilgore (aka Old Shotgun Road). After 2.3 miles, you will come upon the entrance to Eagle Ridge Ranch. Drive up in there, past the rodeo arena and stables, past the ponds, and eventually you'll intersect with a road that goes to the right. If you go right, you can get to all of the cabins. If you go straight, just keep going straight and you'll come to the barn and camping area. Or just drive around until you find someone..
